Consoles and Cup Holders for Classic Chevy Trucks

Do you have a classic or late model General Motors full size pick up truck? The Chevy and GMC C/K was the main truck from 1960 until 1999. This name comes from “C” meaning two wheel drive, and “K” meaning four wheel drive, where both options were available on all models. This completely utilitarian name really says it all for these trucks until they later became known as “Sierra” in 1999.

We have products tailored to fit the second generation from years 1967 to 1972 and the third generation from years 1976to 1987. However we do also have a universal bench seat console that may be useable in your model. Please refer to that specific product to check its dimensions and compare them to your truck in order to know if it will be the best choice for you are your vehicle.

Classic Chevy trucks were not a vehicles created for comfort creating amenities. These trucks build the reputation of work load and lost lasting durability that Chevy trucks maintain today. Although with the second generation of C/K trucks, they earned the nickname “Action Line” because they offered some comfort features compared to the first generation, these improvements would go unnoticed compared to today’s modern vehicles.

The type of improvements made were largely mechanical such as changes to the rear suspension to benefit ride smoothness. Another big change was going from only a 2-speed automatic available in the first generation to a 3-speed. This was going from a bare-bones work vehicle to something somewhat more drivable. In 1971 Sierra edition was released, which contained all offered comfort options, improved interiors with more padding and insulation, carpet, chrome trim, and upper and lower side molding and tailgate trim. Yes this was the first year for carpet. It was also the first year the truck included a radio.

The third generation brought this truck to some resemblance of what you would find in a modern truck, more carpet and padding, a heating and cooling system, and some safety features like lap-and-shoulder safety belts rather than the simple original design of a single strap across the waist. It became known to have a “rounded-line” exterior, because rounder design changes had been made with the influence of General Motors first usage of wind-tunnel testing to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

It can be a rough ride in one of these today. We have the products to make showing of your Chevy or GMC classic a little bit easier by adding a center console to rest on the bench seat, adding cup holders and storage, or simply the choice of upgraded cup holders.
