Product Description
The Custom Autosound USA-230 is a modern AM/FM radio with a digital tuner and an auxiliary input. It's a simple replacement designed to fit your Oldsmobile, so there's no need to cut your dash and lose its classic, one-of-a-kind look.
The Custom Autosound USA-230 for the 1955-56 Oldsmobile has a digital AM/FM tuner, an aux input and 200 watts of peak power.
• AM/FM Digital Tuner - A contemporary radio-style electronic tuner. While driving over bumps or potholes, the station maintains its position.
• AUX Input - Connect your phone, MP3 player, or satellite radio tuner to the radio's AUX input.
The USA-230 includes the cable to connect to the 3.5 mm headphone jack on your iPod, iPhone, Android phone or MP3 player.
Classic Styling
The Custom Autosound USA-230 has all the functions of a modern radio while keeping your Oldsmobile's classic look. You don't want something that looks like the Las Vegas Strip in the dash of your classic car. Though it's a modern radio, it has tuner shafts, push buttons and the look of a vintage radio. It looks the same as the USA-630 but has no USB port or CD changer control.
Amplifier Pre-Outs
The USA-230 has 4-channel pre-amp outputs for connecting a 4-channel amplifier. Adding an amplifier can improve the sound quality and clarity of your system. Most amplifiers now support summing, which matters if you want a 5-channel amplifier to add a subwoofer: it lets you run five channels from just four inputs. If you add a subwoofer, include a bass knob for quick, easy level control.
The Custom Autosound USA-230 for the 1955-56 Oldsmobile comes fully assembled and ready to install. The nosepiece is in place, and the shafts are pre-adjusted to fit the OEM dash holes.

Suggested order for a 1955-1956 Oldsmobile

- Connect ground first, then constant (yellow) and ignition (red).
- Connect the antenna plug and the blue power-antenna lead if your car has a power antenna.
- Wire all four speakers, matching polarity.
- If using an amplifier, run RCA cables from the front/rear (and sub on USA-740/USA-850) pre-outs.
- Reconnect the battery and test radio, speakers, and charging system voltage.
Tech tips for 1955-1956 Oldsmobile
- This radio is sold for the factory Oldsmobile opening used in 1955-1956 models—do not cut a modern DIN rectangle if you want a stock look.
- A poor ground is the most common cause of whine or weak audio; scrape paint at the ground point and use a star washer.
- If AM reception is weak, check the antenna mast, cable continuity, and that the antenna plug is fully seated.
- Vintage Car Radio does not install radios. If you are not comfortable with 12V wiring, use a qualified installer.
