Product Description
That's What the Road Runner Is Built For
Whether it's the bird or the car, speed is always there, especially in the classic 1971-73 Plymouth Road Runner. Just step on the gas and watch it tear up the road.
While you're speeding down the highway, the Custom Autosound USA-230 plays your favorite tunes. This radio keeps up with any car, so you don't miss a note or a word.
The Radio's Quick Features
A power antenna lead helps your antenna pull in stations so the electronic tuner gets a clear signal.
The tuner gets you to your 16 presets (12 FM, 4 AM) fast, with no hesitation, and 200 watts of power drive your speakers. You can't ask for better speed or power in a radio.
A 2-channel aux input, a 4-way fader and 4-channel RCA pre-outs help you get the sound you like, your way, without delay.
And to make sure you get to your destination on time, a built-in digital clock always shows the correct time.
Slow Is Good, but Fast Is Better
That's what you get with a new Custom Autosound USA-230 in the dash of your 1971-73 Plymouth Road Runner: quick, trouble-free access to your music.

Do I need to modify the 1971-73 Roadrunner dash to install it?
This version is built for the 1971-73 Roadrunner and is made to fit the factory radio opening. Custom Autosound says its radios fit without altering or cutting the original dash.
Does it matter if my 1971-73 Roadrunner has factory air?
The Factory Air option tells us which dash layout your 1971-73 Roadrunner has, so pick Yes if it has factory A/C.
What else should I know about the USA-230?
The electronic tuner stores 16 presets, 12 FM and 4 AM. There's a rear RCA auxiliary input, and Custom Autosound includes an RCA to 1/8" pin jack cable for phones, MP3 players or satellite tuners.
What can the USA-230 do?
It skips the USB port, iPod dock and CD changer control found on the USA-630, but keeps the same look. It has a digital clock, a 4-way fader and a power antenna lead.

What do I get with the USA-230 in my 1971-73 Roadrunner?

Suggested order for a 1971-1973 Road Runner

- Connect ground first, then constant (yellow) and ignition (red).
- Connect the antenna plug and the blue power-antenna lead if your car has a power antenna.
- Wire all four speakers, matching polarity.
- If using an amplifier, run RCA cables from the front/rear (and sub on USA-740/USA-850) pre-outs.
- Reconnect the battery and test radio, speakers, and charging system voltage.
Tech tips for 1971-1973 Road Runner
- This radio is sold for the factory Road Runner opening used in 1971-1973 models—do not cut a modern DIN rectangle if you want a stock look.
- A poor ground is the most common cause of whine or weak audio; scrape paint at the ground point and use a star washer.
- If AM reception is weak, check the antenna mast, cable continuity, and that the antenna plug is fully seated.
- Vintage Car Radio does not install radios. If you are not comfortable with 12V wiring, use a qualified installer.
