Product Description
The Custom Autosound USA-850 is one of the most feature-rich radios made for classic cars, and this listing is the Buick version. Our vehicle search lists it for Buicks including the 1964-1969 Buick Special. It fits without altering or cutting the original dash or radio opening.
DigaDial Display
The USA-850's DigaDial virtual screen lets you choose from four distinct displays, so you can pick the look that best suits your dash.
Features
- Bluetooth for streaming music and answering calls
- USB port that plays MP3, WMA and FLAC files and charges your phone
- Rear RCA input for any portable audio device
- Optional CD-1 single CD player
- 6-volt RCA pre-outs and dual subwoofer outputs for external amplifiers
- Bass, treble and midrange controls
- DSP EQ settings: Flat, Classic, Pop and Rock
- Simple 3-wire power harness and clearly labeled speaker wire harness
Built for Amplifiers
The 6-volt pre-outs give a strong, clean signal to external amplifiers, and the dual subwoofer outputs let you add bass without giving up your front and rear channels. That makes the USA-850 a good choice if you plan a full system with amplified speakers and subwoofers.
Ordering Options
- CD Player: add a CD player that works with the radio
- Front dual voice coil speaker, which plays both stereo channels through a single dash speaker
- Rear 6x9 speaker pair, Custom Autosound or upgraded Pioneer
- Antenna: hideaway antenna or power antenna
Electrical Requirements
Custom Autosound radios run on 12-volt negative ground. Tell us your Voltage and Ground when you order. For 6-volt negative ground systems Custom Autosound makes the NGVB-HC voltage booster, and for positive ground systems the PGPI-HC power inverter.
Installation
The 3-wire power harness and labeled speaker harness make installation straightforward for most owners. Check the car's wiring first, add a fuse to the power lead and test the radio before reassembling the dash.
Warranty
Custom Autosound radios sold by Vintage Car Radio carry a 2-year warranty.
Why the USA-850
Compared with simpler Custom Autosound models, the USA-850 adds FLAC playback, phone charging over USB, a choice of four displays, a midrange control and dual subwoofer outputs. If you want the most complete system in a classic Buick dash, it is a strong choice.
Speakers for a Classic Buick
Many 1960s Buicks have a single dash speaker. The optional front dual voice coil speaker gives stereo from that location, and a rear 6x9 pair, either Custom Autosound or upgraded Pioneer, rounds out the system. An optional hideaway or power antenna is also offered for cars without a good antenna.

- Reconnect the battery and test radio, speakers, and charging system voltage.
Tech tips for classic Buick
- This radio is sold for the factory Buick opening used in classic models—do not cut a modern DIN rectangle if you want a stock look.
- A poor ground is the most common cause of whine or weak audio; scrape paint at the ground point and use a star washer.
- If AM reception is weak, check the antenna mast, cable continuity, and that the antenna plug is fully seated.
- Vintage Car Radio does not install radios. If you are not comfortable with 12V wiring, use a qualified installer.
