The Seatbelt Planet 1984-1985 Buick Riviera - Convertible, Driver & Passenger Seat Belt Kit, sold by Vintage Car Radio, is the thoughtful upgrade that lets these rare 1980s Riviera drop-tops keep their elegant, wind-in-the-hair character while quietly delivering the safety today's owners want.

The 1984-1985 Buick Riviera Convertible was a special chapter in GM's personal-luxury story. The front-wheel-drive platform gave it a lower stance and smoother ride than earlier Rivieras, and the power top folded away to reveal a long, flowing body that still turned heads decades later. Inside, the cockpit felt upscale—plush bucket seats, digital dash clusters, chrome accents that caught light just right, and that unmistakable Riviera presence. Drop the top and the world opened up: sun on your face, breeze through the cabin, the V6 or optional V8 humming beneath the long hood. It was a car for leisurely coastal drives, weekend escapes, or simply enjoying the open air on a quiet afternoon. But the original belts—early three-point designs—have rarely survived in good shape. Sun has bleached them, retractors have gummed up, buckles have lost their crispness. In a convertible built for feeling free, worn belts quietly chip away at that sense of confidence.

This Seatbelt Planet kit is made precisely for the 1984-1985 Riviera Convertible's front bucket seats. It provides full 3-point lap-and-shoulder belts—retractable where it makes sense—so they extend smoothly and retract neatly when the top is stowed. The webbing is high-strength and fade-resistant, available in a range of shades that suit the Riviera's refined interior: classic black to match the most common upholstery, rich saddle or tan to echo period leather options, deep burgundy for a touch of luxury, or custom tones for restorers chasing a particular year or market look. The all-metal push-button buckles are chrome-plated—sharp, positive click, clean release, and that solid, mechanical feel Buick drivers associate with the era's best hardware.

Chrome end fittings and anchors nest cleanly against the seat tracks, door cards, and bright trim. No bulky plastic. No oversized modern logos. The belts blend into the cockpit the way originals did when new, so concours judges see nothing but factory-correct detail.

Installation stays true to the Riviera's sophisticated yet straightforward nature. The kit includes every bolt, spacer, bracket, and anchor needed. It uses the existing floor points—no cutting, no welding, no permanent floor-pan changes. Route the belts, secure the mounts, adjust the straps. The webbing has plenty of length and smooth adjusters, so driver and passenger of different sizes can find a comfortable, secure fit without shoulder creep or twisting.

Seatbelt Planet builds these belts to standards that exceed FMVSS 209 and 302—real tensile strength, abrasion resistance, flame-retardant properties. Owners who've fitted them often say the cockpit feels noticeably more secure without losing any of the Riviera Convertible's lightness or charm. The car still glides over highways, still turns heads with the top down, still feels special—but now the driver and passenger ride with quiet confidence.

Vintage Car Radio ships quickly and supports the product well, so this refresh is easy to add.
In short, this Seatbelt Planet 1984-1985 Buick Riviera - Convertible Driver & Passenger Seat Belt Kit is the detail that lets the open-air Riviera keep living fully. It replaces tired originals with fresh webbing, correct chrome hardware, and contemporary three-point protection—so the top-down thrill stays pure and safe. Order from Vintage Car Radio today and give your Riviera the belts it deserves.
