Time for New Belts?
Tahoes from these years are often high-mileage family haulers, and front belts wear at the latch plate.
Caring for Your Belts
Wipe the Tahoe strap with mild soap and dry it extended.
About the Chevrolet Tahoe
Chevrolet's GMT400 full-size SUV was called the Blazer at first and renamed Tahoe from 1995, with two-door and four-door versions.
Before You Install
Confirm your Tahoe has a front bench before ordering.
Good to Know
Hardware is included.
Seatbelt Planet sells a separate bucket seat belt for Tahoes.
Order two for both outboard bench seats.
Gray and tan webbing suit most Tahoe interiors.
The 1996 Tahoe won Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award, and the Vortec 5700 V8 arrived that year with more power than the earlier throttle body engine.
Two-door Tahoes were built through 1999, while the four-door joined the lineup for 1995 and quickly became a common family SUV.
Bench seat Tahoes could carry three across the front, so the outboard belts are pulled across a wider seat than in a bucket seat version.
A worn Tahoe belt often has a sticky retractor, slow return or webbing that has frayed where it passes through the latch plate.
The 6.5 liter turbo diesel V8 was also offered in Tahoes during this period, and many diesel trucks have high mileage and tired belts.
Confirm whether your Tahoe has the 40/20/40 split bench or a solid bench, and compare the anchor layout before ordering.
Seatbelt Planet also lists Tahoe rear belts if you plan to refresh the second row.
Fresh front belts are worthwhile on a Tahoe that still tows a boat or camper each summer.
Tahoe trims for these years included the base, LS and LT, with the LT adding leather seats in many trucks.
Seatbelt Planet lists this belt for bench seat Tahoes, so owners of trucks with front buckets should look for the bucket version instead.
The GMC Yukon was the sister SUV to the Tahoe, but this listing is written for the Chevrolet version.
Many Tahoes from these years still serve as tow vehicles, and the driver belt sees the most daily use.
Owners who bought a Tahoe new in the late 1990s are often keeping them on the road, and new belts help freshen a worn cab.
Tahoe front benches fold the center section into an armrest on many trucks, which leaves the outer seats as the main positions for this belt.
