Specific to the 40TD
Most RV belt listings cover a model name broadly. This one names the 40TD floorplan. That gives Tour owners a clear starting point when shopping for a replacement. If your coach is a different Tour floorplan, contact Vintage Car Radio and we will help you determine whether this belt suits your seats.
High Expectations, High Use
Owners of larger coaches often travel extensively, sometimes for months at a time. That means:
- Cockpit belts are buckled and unbuckled constantly.
- Long days in the driver's seat make belt comfort important.
- Large windshields expose webbing to strong sunlight.
- Swivel seats add twisting stress.
Belts in this environment age faster than you might expect, even on a well-maintained coach. Because the change is gradual, many owners do not notice how worn their belts have become until they sit in a coach with new ones.
How to Know It Is Time
Ask yourself these questions:
- Does the belt need help to rewind?
- Does it fail to lock when tugged sharply?
- Is the webbing faded, frayed, or stiff?
- Does the end release buckle stick?
- Does it look worn next to your upholstery?
A yes to any of these suggests a new belt is in order.
Webbing Colors
There are 52 webbing colors to pick from, and the specialty group (M-Stripe, the edge colors, Miami Blue, Acid Green, Bone, White and a few others) carries an upcharge listed in the picker. Black or Silver-Edge typically suit a Tour's upscale interior.
Installing the Belt
Lock the seat in its forward position. Before removing anything, photograph the old belt's mounting and routing. Remove the belt, inspect the mounting points and seat base, and install the new belt with the webbing flat. Tighten all hardware securely and test the belt with the seat in its driving position. An RV service center can handle it if you prefer.
Two Seats, Two Belts
Order two if you want both cockpit belts replaced. Matched belts look better and give the driver and passenger the same comfort on every leg of the trip.
