Product Description
Most classic cars and trucks left the factory with a single mono speaker in the dash. If you have installed a stereo radio, that one speaker can only play part of the sound. Custom Autosound's dual dash speakers solve that, giving you stereo from the factory mono speaker location without cutting the dash.
How They Work
A dual dash speaker assembly holds two speakers on a single mounting plate, one for the left channel and one for the right. It drops into the original speaker opening, so the dash looks untouched from the driver's seat while the cabin gets true stereo sound.
1000 Series and 2000 Series
Custom Autosound makes two series to match how your original speaker is mounted:
- 1000 series: replaces OEM speakers generally held in place by screws
- 2000 series: replaces OEM speakers held in place by a metal bracket
Your Year, Make and Model selections tell us which assembly fits your vehicle, and the Factory Air question matters because air conditioning ducts can change the space behind the dash in many classics.
Pre-Wired for Custom Autosound Radios
All of Custom Autosound's dual dash speakers are pre-wired and designed to connect easily to any Custom Autosound radio. That makes them a natural pairing with a USA-230, USA-630 or other Custom Autosound unit, and there is no splicing needed between the radio and the speaker assembly.
Kenwood Upgrade
This listing includes the Kenwood Upgrade option. Custom Autosound offers Kenwood speaker models on its dual dash assemblies for owners who want a step up in speaker quality while keeping the same fit and plug-in wiring.
Dual Speakers or a Dual Voice Coil Speaker?
Custom Autosound also makes dual voice coil (DVC) speakers, which play both stereo channels through a single cone. DVC speakers have more cone area for better bass and are rated at 4 ohms, so they will not work with original 8 or 10 ohm radios. Dual dash speakers are the choice when your vehicle's opening and mounting suit two separate speakers. If you are not sure which is better for your car, ask us.
Fit Notes
Dual dash speakers are available for most classic cars and trucks, but each assembly is shaped for specific dashes. Enter your vehicle carefully and contact us if your car has been modified or has a non-original dash.
Upgrade Path
Dual dash speakers are often the first step in a classic car sound system. Once the front of the car has stereo, many owners add a rear 6x9 pair or kick panel speakers and use the radio's fader to balance front and rear.
