Custom Autosound USA-630 for a 1978-85 Chevy Monte Carlo
Custom Autosound USA-630 for 1978-85 Chevy Monte Carlo – Classic Style, Modern Sound
The 1978-85 Chevy Monte Carlo is an icon of American automotive history, combining style, power and a smooth ride. But its factory radio lacks the features today's drivers expect. The Custom Autosound USA-630 from Vintage Car Radio is a great upgrade, with modern audio technology and the factory look of your Monte Carlo's dash.
Modern Features for a Classic Car
The USA-630 offers easy connectivity and quality sound. With the optional BluKit, you can stream music wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet and take hands-free calls.
For traditional radio fans, the AM/FM tuner stores 16 presets (12 FM, 4 AM). The USB port and auxiliary input connect MP3 players, flash drives and other audio devices, and if you still enjoy CDs, the USA-630 directly controls an optional CD changer.
High-Performance Sound
With 300 watts peak power (45 watts RMS x 4), the USA-630 sounds far better than the factory radio, and its 4-channel RCA pre-outs let you expand your system with amplifiers.
Designed to fit your Monte Carlo's dash, the Custom Autosound USA-630 blends vintage looks with modern technology, so your Monte Carlo sounds as good as it looks.

Suggested order for a 1978-1985 Chevy Monte Carlo
- Disconnect the vehicle battery before any wiring.
- Connect ground first, then constant (yellow) and ignition (red).
- Connect the antenna plug and the blue power-antenna lead if your car has a power antenna.
- Wire all four speakers, matching polarity.
- If using an amplifier, run RCA cables from the front/rear (and sub on USA-740/USA-850) pre-outs.
- Reconnect the battery and test radio, speakers, and charging system voltage.
Tech tips for 1978-1985 Chevy Monte Carlo
- This radio is sold for the factory Chevy Monte Carlo opening used in 1978-1985 models—do not cut a modern DIN rectangle if you want a stock look.
- A poor ground is the most common cause of whine or weak audio; scrape paint at the ground point and use a star washer.
- If AM reception is weak, check the antenna mast, cable continuity, and that the antenna plug is fully seated.
- Vintage Car Radio does not install radios. If you are not comfortable with 12V wiring, use a qualified installer.
