The Seatbelt Planet 1980-1991 Volkswagen Vanagon, Driver & Passenger Seat Belt Kit, sold by Vintage Car Radio, brings modern three-point restraint to the front seats of these versatile Transporters while keeping their adventure-ready character intact.

Known as the Vanagon in North America, the 1980-1991 T3 Transporter became a favourite among campers, road-trippers and families who valued space, visibility and mechanical simplicity. The upright front seats offered a commanding view of the road and made long days behind the wheel more comfortable. Whether used as a daily driver, a weekender or a full camper conversion, the Vanagon was built to cover distance. What has not been held up as well is the original front restraint equipment. Webbing typically fades and loses strength; buckles become inconsistent, and many examples now run with incomplete or incorrect belts.

This kit from Seatbelt Planet supplies a complete pair of 3-point belts configured for the 1980-1991 Vanagon front seats. The webbing is dense, UV-stable polyester selected for consistent strength and long-term appearance, available in colours that work with the interiors commonly found in these vehicles. The buckles are solid metal with a positive, mechanical action. Matching hardware allows the installation to sit cleanly within the cabin rather than looking like an obvious later addition.

The belts are manufactured to meet the performance requirements of FMVSS 209 for tensile strength, controlled elongation, abrasion resistance, and buckle function. Wide-range adjustment lets different drivers and passengers achieve a secure, comfortable fit while maintaining the upright seating position that defines the Vanagon.

Mounting is intended to work with the existing floor structure. All necessary fasteners are included. In most cases, only limited preparation is required. Important: torque values and the assembly sequence must be taken exclusively from the instructions supplied with the kit. Correct tightening is essential for the system to perform as designed.

Owners who still take their Vanagon on regular trips, camping weekends or longer journeys gain a clear improvement in everyday security. The front seats receive proper three-point protection without disturbing the vehicle’s spacious, practical layout.

Vintage Car Radio supplies the complete Seatbelt Planet kit with the correct hardware and guidance, keeping the installation process clear for both professional workshops and experienced owners.

The result is a discreet, functional update that allows the Vanagon’s combination of versatility and long-distance capability to be enjoyed with greater confidence. The vehicle keeps its identity as a classic adventure Transporter; the front seats are simply brought to a higher standard of restraint. Order from Vintage Car Radio and equip your Volkswagen Vanagon with a restraint solution matched to its open-road character.
