Product Description
The Antique Automobile 4x10 low profile dual voice coil speaker replaces a single dash speaker and plays both stereo channels from that one location. It is a simple way to get stereo sound in a classic that came with one speaker.
Features
- Dual voice coil: one speaker acts like two
- Low profile design that clears air conditioning and other dash parts in most applications
- Works with 8 ohm and 10 ohm radios, according to the original listing
- About 70 percent more cone area than typical dual speakers, for fuller sound
- Rated for 140 watts
How Dual Voice Coil Works
A dual voice coil speaker has two separate coils on one cone. Connect the left channel to one coil and the right channel to the other, and the single speaker plays stereo.
Low Profile Fit
Many dashes have little room behind the speaker grille, especially with factory air. The low profile design fits where deeper speakers will not.
Matching Your Radio
Check your radio's speaker impedance before ordering. If you have a modern 4 ohm radio, ask us which dual voice coil speaker is the best match.
Completing the System
Add a rear pair or kick panel speakers for fuller sound, and use your radio's fader to balance front and rear.
Installation
Remove the old speaker, check the mounting holes and wiring, and connect each voice coil to its channel. Test before reinstalling the dash grille.
Keep Your Originals
Store any original parts you remove in a labeled box. Many owners like to keep them with the car's records.
Test Before Finishing
Play music through every speaker and check the fader and balance before putting trim panels back in place.
Wiring Tips
Use good connectors and keep wires away from sharp edges and moving parts.
Getting Help
If you are not sure which version fits your vehicle, contact us with your year, make and model before ordering.
Setting the Sound
Start with the tone controls near flat, then adjust for your cabin.
Planning a System
Think about where every speaker will go before ordering, so the radio, dash speaker, kick panels and rear speakers work together.
Choosing Speakers
Many classics have one dash speaker. A dual voice coil speaker carries both stereo channels from that location, and a rear 6x9 pair, Custom Autosound or upgraded Pioneer, fills in the back.
Fit Questions
Dashes changed often, even within a model line. If you are unsure which version you need, have your year, model and any dash changes ready when you contact us.
Amplifier Ready
The 4-channel RCA pre-outs make it easy to add an amplifier for more power or a subwoofer for deeper bass, without replacing the radio.
