Product Description
The Custom Autosound USA-630 for the 1967-73 Mustang brings modern music sources into the original dash while keeping the look of a period radio. It is built to fit the factory radio opening without cutting the dash, and its large OEM-style pushbuttons and Mustang-specific bezel let it blend into the instrument panel instead of standing out like a modern head unit. For owners who want the car to look original but still play music from a phone or flash drive, it is one of the best-known classic car radios made.
Built for the 1967-73 Mustang
Mustang dashes changed several times between 1967 and 1973, and the order form on this page asks for your Year, Make and Model and whether the car has Factory Air so the correct version is sent. If your dash has been modified or you are not sure which version you have, contact us before ordering and we will help you confirm it.

Music From Your Devices
A flash drive in the USB input can hold hours of music, and the display shows the file information as it plays. An iPod can stay hidden in the glove box or console while you browse it from the radio's buttons. The rear auxiliary input accepts a phone, a satellite radio tuner or any portable player. For wireless streaming, choose the Bluetooth Adapter in the CD/Bluetooth menu. Custom Autosound's BluKit adds Bluetooth music and hands-free calling, with the music muting automatically when a call comes in. If you would rather play discs, the same menu offers the Single Slave CD player.
Options on This Page
- CD/Bluetooth: Single Slave CD or Bluetooth Adapter
- Voltage (12 volt or 6 volt) and Ground (negative or positive) to match your car
- Kick panels with speakers, without speakers or with a Pioneer upgrade
- Front dual voice coil speaker
- Hideaway antenna
- Rear 6x9 speaker pair, Custom Autosound or upgraded Pioneer
Speakers and Power
Many Mustangs left the factory with a single dash speaker. A dual voice coil speaker plays both stereo channels from that one location, and kick panels or a rear 6x9 pair spread the sound through the cabin. The four RCA pre-outs make it easy to add an amplifier or subwoofer later without replacing the radio.
Installation
The USA-630 is designed to bolt into the stock opening with no cutting. Most owners or their installer can handle it with basic tools. Disconnect the battery first, check the grounds, and test the radio before the dash goes back together.
Warranty
Custom Autosound radios sold by Vintage Car Radio carry a 2-year warranty.

Suggested order for a 1967-73 Mustang
- Disconnect the vehicle battery before any wiring.
- Connect ground first, then constant (yellow) and ignition (red).
- Connect the antenna plug and the blue power-antenna lead if your car has a power antenna.
- Wire all four speakers, matching polarity.
- If using an amplifier, run RCA cables from the front/rear (and sub on USA-740) pre-outs.
- Reconnect the battery and test radio, speakers, and charging system voltage.
Tech tips for 1967-73 Mustang
- This radio is sold for the factory Mustang opening used in 1967-73 models—do not cut a modern DIN rectangle if you want a stock look.
- A poor ground is the most common cause of whine or weak audio; scrape paint at the ground point and use a star washer.
- If AM reception is weak, check the antenna mast, cable continuity, and that the antenna plug is fully seated.
- Vintage Car Radio does not install radios. If you are not comfortable with 12V wiring, use a qualified installer.
