Aurora Design BTC Smart-3.2 Bluetooth/AAC Adapter: Works With FMR-3.2, FMC-2 and Aftermarket Radios
The BTC Smart-3.2 is the most versatile of Aurora Design's current Bluetooth modules. Like its sibling, the BTL Smart-3.2, it brings the advanced Bluetooth features of the BTU Smart-3.2 to FMR-3.2 conversion radios in a lower-cost package. The BTC Smart-3.2 goes further, though. It can be used standalone with Aurora Design's FMC-2 FM tuner and with other aftermarket radios, and it supports an optional illuminated pushbutton for installations without an FMR-3.2.
What Makes the BTC Different From the BTL
- Works standalone with the FMC-2 and other aftermarket radios (BTC only)
- Optional illuminated pushbutton for pairing, Voice Command, next/previous, play/pause, call accept/reject and mute in non-FMR-3.2 installations
- Clip-on hands-free microphone with a 3M (9.8') cable included as standard

Bluetooth 5.0 and Native AAC
The BTC Smart-3.2 uses a certified Bluetooth 5.0 Class 2 module that's backward compatible with versions 3.0/2.1+EDR, 1.2 and 1.1. It's certified for FCC, IC, CE and Bluetooth SIG. Aurora Design licenses the AAC codec, so AAC music from your phone plays without being converted to lower-quality SBC. You can pair up to 8 devices, and the module reconnects automatically to the last 4.
In an FMR-3.2 Radio
With an FMR-3.2 receiver, the BTC Smart-3.2 is controlled through the radio's original knobs. Twist the volume control to start music or a call, and the radio softly mutes when a call comes in. The FMR Connect™ app for iOS™ and Android™ lets you name the radio, adjust the equalizer in real time and set balance and fader. Calls hand back to your phone if you switch off the radio and return when you turn it back on. Call waiting and conference calls are supported.
In an FMC-2 or Aftermarket Radio
Because it can run standalone, the BTC Smart-3.2 is a good match for an original AM radio fitted with an FMC-2 FM tuner. Add the optional pushbutton to handle pairing, track changes and calls. Its auxiliary output runs at -6dBV nominal with a 20Hz-20kHz response and is protected to +/-24V.
Voice Assist and Voice Command
Enhanced Voice Assist speaks in English to guide you through basic operations, such as announcing when it's ready to pair. Voice Command works with compatible phones, and playback resumes where you left off.
