Aurora Design FMR-DRD1 DAB/DAB+ Digital Radio Module for Classic Radios Worldwide
As analog AM and FM broadcasting is phased out in many parts of the world, a classic car radio that receives only analog signals risks going silent. The Aurora Design FMR-DRD1 solves that for radios converted with the FMR-3.2 AM/FM receiver by adding DAB and DAB+ digital broadcasting. Aurora Design says this is the first time DAB/DAB+ has been offered in an original classic vehicle radio.
Aurora Design's Patented Interface
The FMR-DRD1 uses an interface patented by Aurora Design to bring DAB/DAB+ reception into the FMR-3.2 platform. As a result, your original radio, whether it's a European saloon set or an American radio in a car now driven overseas, can receive digital broadcasts while keeping its factory controls and appearance.

Easy Station Management With the App
DAB stations are grouped differently from traditional AM/FM stations, so Aurora Design made station management easy. Pair the radio with a BTU Smart-3.2 or BTL/BTC Smart-3.2 and use the FMR Connect™ app for iOS™ and Android™. On DAB/DAB+ equipped radios, you can run scans, choose stations from a list and send the updated list to the radio.
Part of a Worldwide Radio Platform
When the FMR-3.2 is configured for worldwide use, it supports European/Asian FM (87.5-108 MHz, 100kHz spacing, 50µs de-emphasis), Japanese FM (76.0-95.0 MHz), MW on 531-1611 kHz and longwave on 140-300 kHz. The FMR-DRD1 adds digital DAB/DAB+ on top of those bands, giving a classic radio full coverage of analog and digital broadcasting in DAB regions.
OEM-Grade Construction
Aurora Design designs its products to automotive OEM standards with OEM-grade components. They're built in an ISO 9001:2000 facility with 2D and 3D X-ray inspection and full traceability to the component level. The FMR-3.2 platform is protected against reverse battery, load dump and double-battery jump starts.
FMR-DRD1 or FMR-DRH1?
Choose the FMR-DRD1 for DAB/DAB+ in Europe, Asia and other regions that broadcast DAB. For North America, choose the FMR-DRH1, which provides HD Radio™ instead. Both are options for the FMR-3.2 receiver and can't be used on their own.
Before You Order
The FMR-DRD1 needs an FMR-3.2 receiver configured for worldwide use. If your radio has an earlier FMR conversion, ask us about upgrading. Cars with 6-volt or positive-ground electrical systems also need the HPC-1 converter.
