Product Description
Aurora Design FMR-CM2 Courtesy Module: Keep the Music Playing After the Key Is Off
Modern cars let you finish a song or a phone call after you turn off the ignition. The Aurora Design FMR-CM2 Courtesy Module brings that same convenience to a classic radio converted with the FMR-3.2 AM/FM receiver. It's a small option that makes an original radio feel like the one in your daily driver.
What the FMR-CM2 Does
As in many modern vehicles, the FMR-CM2 keeps the radio running for a while after you turn off the ignition or open a door. That gives you several minutes to:
- Finish the song you're listening to
- Complete a hands-free phone call through a BTU Smart-3.2 or BTL/BTC Smart-3.2
- Keep charging your phone from the BTU Smart-3.2's USB port
Why It Matters in a Classic Car
In an unmodified classic, the radio dies the moment you turn the key. That's annoying if you just pulled into a car show, a gas station or your driveway in the middle of a call. Aurora Design's Bluetooth modules already hand an active call back to your phone when the radio switches off, and the FMR-CM2 gives you extra time before that happens. It's a small upgrade you'll notice every time you park.
Designed for the FMR-3.2 System
Aurora Design lists the FMR-CM2 as an optional accessory for the FMR-3.2, along with the FMR-DRH1/DRD1 digital radio modules, the HPC-1 power converter, the FMR-MC1 motor controller and the FMR-HV1 relay driver. Like those options, it installs out of sight, so the radio's original look and controls aren't changed.
Aurora Design Quality
Aurora Design builds its products to automotive OEM and SAE standards with OEM-grade components, in an ISO 9001:2000 facility with 2D and 3D X-ray inspection and component-level traceability. The FMR-3.2 it works with is protected against reverse battery, load dump and double-battery jump starts, and stores your settings in nonvolatile memory without a constant battery lead.
The Modern-Car Experience, Completed
Pair the FMR-CM2 with the rest of the FMR-3.2 lineup for a fully modernized original radio. Add Voice Assist HD announcements, a three-band equalizer, Bluetooth 5.0 with native AAC, USB playback with charging, FMR Connect™ app control and, with the FMR-DRH1, HD Radio™. The courtesy module adds one more modern feature, so the radio doesn't cut off the moment you turn the key.
Ordering Notes
The FMR-CM2 is an accessory for the Aurora Design FMR-3.2 receiver and doesn't work with stock, unconverted radios. Aurora Design previously offered the FMR-CM1 courtesy module, and the FMR-CM2 is the newer version listed on its current FMR-3.2 page. Aurora Design doesn't publish exact timing or wiring details on that page, so contact us with questions about your vehicle's door switch wiring before ordering.
