    General Motors is one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world. They produce some of the most iconic cars ever made. General Motors consists of Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and formerly Pontiac and Oldsmobile. General Motors built legendary cars like the Corvette, Camaro and the '55 to '57 Chevy; Oldsmobile had the Cutlass 442 and the Rocket 88; Pontiac had the Firebird, another words classic cars! General Motors were known for their technological advances like fuel injection, air bag suspension and the like and they were way ahead of the time with the styling department. They had fins and chrome and big grills everywhere. The darling of the General Motors was the Corvette. It was first built in 1953 and was an immediate hit with the public. The United States hadn't had their own sports car and the Corvette fit the bill. It fascinated the car going public and just grew from there. They really prospered when the small block V8 was introduced in 1955 and set the world on fire. Suddenly you could buy a fast car direct from the factory and it killed the Ford flathead on the dragstrip and tracks everywhere. Then there was the Tri-five Chevy which was a nickname for the '55-57 Chevy. These vehicles had just the right look for the car buying public. The 1957 Chevy became a symbol for everything that was good in America. If you look up car in the dictionary, you'll find the '57 Chevy. It was an icon.
