  • Single 4-ohm subwoofer wired to a 4-ohm stable amp = perfect match.
  • Two 4-ohm subs wired in parallel = 2-ohm load. Great if your amp is 2-ohm stable.
  • Two 4-ohm subs wired in series = 8-ohm load. Output drops, but the amp runs cooler.
  • Dual voice coil (DVC) subs add flexibility. A DVC 4-ohm sub wired in parallel = 2 ohms, but wired in series = 8 ohms.

This is why checking the chart before installation is critical.
